An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable device that checks the heart rhythm. If required, it can send electric shocks to the heart to try to restore a normal rhythm. AED’s are used to treat Ventricular Fibrillation (VF) in Sudden Cardiac Arrest and should be used in conjunction with CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).
They are not used for a ‘Heart Attack’. But a Heart Attack’ sometimes is followed by Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
They are NOT “Heart Restarters” – a common misconception. Nothing will start a heart that has actually stopped !
Their life saving properties are well documented and after being sold for over 60 years, they are pretty much bomb proof and have become very user friendly. It is said that anyone over the age of 7 can be trained to use them successfully.
In view of the importance of choosing the correct Defibrillator for your project, I feel that is important to discuss options with you before purchase.
Why am I selling them?
As Chairman of our Parish Council, I was tasked with buying a Community Access Defibrillator and Cabinet for the village. The whole process was a nightmare ! Dozens of options with vastly variable specifications, wildly enthusiastic pricing, scaremongering and misleading information given by sellers.
The issue of ‘Governance’ was a favourite. It should be noted that anyone can register a Community Access Defibrillator with their local Ambulance Control. A simple Checklist is supplied for Weekly checks.
We were tight on funding and settled on a subsidised Defibrillator (which took a very frustrating 20 weeks to arrive and perhaps is not the ideal specification). We also had problems with a ‘well priced’ cabinet which failed to open on several occasions ! This had to be returned and replaced with a more expensive make. Hassle and false economy!
After all this, based on an awful lot of research and learning from my mistakes, I decided to sell these myself and try to make the whole purchase process more ethical, user friendly and affordable.
Why am I different from all the rest?
I’m not a lad in a call centre whose only interest is your Credit Card details !
I offer you a personal service with help and advice on the correct Defibrillator, fitting or cabinet for your particular needs.
I am able to offer you the best, high specification, value for money Defibrillators on the market, from the world’s leading suppliers, at VERY competitive prices.
Having also been shocked by prices asked for cabinets and accessories, I now also offer lower pricing on these too.
How can I do this?
I do not have the massive overheads that big companies have to cover and have negotiated special prices directly with the manufacturers that I can pass on to you. I have now supplied over 1300 to individuals, communities and businesses throughout the UK.
I mainly sell Stryker / Physio-Control, Heartsine and Cardiac Science Defibrillators. These are well tried and tested (with over a million Physio-Control Defibrillators in use worldwide). They meet worldwide standards. They are standard issue to around 80% of the UK’s Ambulance and First Responder crews.
They are very user friendly. With the recommended fully automatic models you just press the On button or open the Defibrillator’s lid, place pads where shown and the machine does the rest !
The Defibrillator talks you through the whole process and decides IF to shock, WHEN to shock and at WHAT POWER to shock.
Other Makes and Models available – Please ask for a quotation.
Annual Service Agreement?
Often quoted at £150 to £200 per year.
I believe this is an unnecessary expense !
Routine replacement for the date stamped pads and battery costs between £24 and £64 per year (+VAT).
I will send you a reminder prior to the pads and battery expiry date.
The Defibrillator’s ‘Self Checking’ protocols and the clearly visible flashing light or ‘Rescue Ready’ display make regular checking (by owner) simple.
I supply a Checklist for recording these weekly checks.
I provide information on registering ‘Public Access’ Defibrillators with your local Ambulance Services.
The Defibrillators have an 8 year warranty.
I am available 15 hours a day, 7 days a week for help and advice.
